Minnis Bay is a popular beach in the summer, with its gently shelving sandy beach it is safe for swimming and boating.

In addition to the Windsurfing Club, there is also an active sailing club, and a sea angling club. Jet skis and water skis are not permitted in the bay, so it is very safe for the children.
The beach also has a blue flag award.
There are toilets in the car park, (plus, summer only, at the far eastern end of the bay), and a life guard is on duty during the summer months. There is a charge for the car park during the summer months, but the sea front is free.
'The Minnis' bar/restaurant is open all year, and just next to our club hut is the 'Windshack' cafe, where you can get a nice hot coffee and decent steak sandwich. Other local shops are available for food/other items, plus plenty more to choose from in Birchington village.
If you are looking for somewhere nearby to stay for the weekend (or longer), there is some useful information on the Thanet Tourism website.
If the wind drops, it's still a great beach for the kids to play on, or take a walk to Reculver along the sea wall.
